Nick Hauser is an exceptional South African artist. He is versatile, creating work in clay, painting, drawing, and collage. He is professor and teacher of students all ages, as well as a mentor, art historian, and friend to many.
Nick has done a few projects with my students over the last few years. His most recent visit included a double project. During the first, Hauser encouraged the students to consider what they spend a lot of time thinking about. With him he brought massive sheets of heavy craft paper and white paint. After a discussion about what part of their time they spend thinking of various things, we taped the sheets of paper to the school building’s outside walls and Nick asked students to illustrate their thoughts.
Here is some of the work.
